I write YA Science Fiction. I've been writing since 2009 on a self-published basis, but before then, I was a closet writer. I sent off lots of science fiction short stories and books to traditional publishers. If I did it, as a kid in school, as a young mother, as a single mom, as a full-time worker--you can do it, too! Just make use of that 'wasted time' in waiting rooms and lines, etc. Have an app on your phone so you can write quietly, or dictate in your car!
